2 Hour Facility Challenge to Commemorate the 10 year anniversary of 9/11
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11th, 9/11 widow Susan Retik, along with hundreds of supporters will cycle 270 miles from Ground Zero in NYC (where her husband was killed on one of the hijacked planes) to Boston where she lives. This event, called “Beyond the Bike”, is intended to not only honor of all the victims and rescuers who lost their lives on that day, but also to celebrate the countless acts of courage and humanity that have marked the decade since.
We'd like to invite you to ride "alongside" Susan in a two hour 'facility challenge' fundraiser – Beyond the Bike Studio – on Sunday, September 11, 2011. If you are the owner of a stationary cycle facility, register your facility and invite your cyclists to participate. If you're a cyclist, find a nearby participating facility and sign up. Join the hundreds of riders who will complete the last leg of “Beyond the Bike” that day — the 10th anniversary of September 11th.
All proceeds will go to Beyond the 11th, a non-profit organization that provides support to widows in Afghanistan who have been afflicted by war, terrorism and oppression.
“With you by my side I know this will be an unforgettable 10th anniversary ride.” -- Susan Retik, President and Co-founder, Beyond the 11th.
